Time Walking:

She named it herself. Piper has the ability to project her consciousness into the past or the future up to 50 years (No earlier than 1946 and no later than 2046). Her displaced consciousness is completely invisible*.

Her projected self is mostly incorporeal. She can move through solid structures, but she is also able to slightly move light objects, gently touch things or people and interfere minimally with electronics. (Often these instances are miss-attributed as ghostly hauntings in her canon.) She cannot perform these tasks indefinitely as they require great focus and stamina.

When in the Time Walk state, her physical body experiences time flow at a tiny fraction of the rate that her conscious self does. A few hours in a Time Walk will seem like only a few seconds in real time. This is fortunate because Piper cannot maintain present awareness while projecting herself into the Time Walk. So long as her consciousness is elsewhere, she will not react to her physical surrounding, even if she is touched or shaken by another person. This would only become an issue if she stayed in the Time Walk for an excessively long time. Otherwise, it would be perceived by onlookers as nothing more than a quick blink of her eyes.

While she can move forward and backward in time, the events she views are always in relation to her physical location. She must take herself manually to the place she wishes to see. She can do this in advance of using her power, or her projected consciousness can travel to the place by walking within the Time Walk plane. This is where the name comes from.

An example: If she wishes to view thirty minutes into the future of her home, she will either need to begin the Time Walk in/near her home, or she will have to expend time in the Time Walk traveling to it.

She has a good reason not to begin the Time Walk before she is at her desired location. Time does not stay frozen on the Time Walk plane. Events will pass in real-time speed, starting from the specific moment she has chosen to go back or forward to. Therefore, if she wishes to view an event in the past that is fifteen minutes away from the location at which she starts, she will view fifteen minutes of time moving forward while walking to her destination. With this in mind, she must include time for travel in her estimations when deciding how far into the future or past she wants to begin her Time Walk.

Three Special Notes:

1.) Time only moves forward on the Time Walk plane. She cannot rewind a moment or view events in reverse.

2.) If she starts in the past but remains in the Time Walk long enough for past events to catch up to her present, she will begin to see the future beyond her present point in time until she chooses to end her Time Walk.

3.) She may return to the same points in time more than once. The Time Walk plane exists adjacent to but separate from the natural flow of time.

Begining & Ending: Piper can begin the Time Walk by thinking of a specific time (hour, minute, second) and willing it to begin. She can also end the Time Walk whenever she wants. But it is dangerous to do so while separated from her physical body. The Disconnect between her consciousness and her corporeal self will lead to a coma that may last anywhere from a day to two weeks depending on the distance she was from her physical body at the time. It is always best to wait until she is rejoined with her physical self before leaving the time Walk plane.

What about temporal paradox?

The Past: Piper can view the past, but she cannot do anything to drastically alter events and outcomes. There is no creation of alternate timelines. Events of the past will always lead to the same net result in the present. She may minimally affect the means by which events occur, but they must occur. Time corrects its own flow.

The Future: Future events are more fluid. If something has not yet come to pass, Piper may have the ability to change their outcome. However, larger more impactful events tend to be harder to effect than smaller ones. Due to this flexibility, Piper may see multiple changing futures in the Time Walk. The future she sees will always be the most likely outcome at her present time of viewing. Generally, death and great tragedy cannot be prevented.

(*Other Time Walkers or psychics may be able to see her.)
